IN MEMORY OF A FRIEND

All the journalists in the Barents region know the name of Elena Larionova. Lena stood at the origins of international cooperation and has done a lot for uniting ordinary people in Russia, Finland, Norway and Sweden.

She used to be “our voice” and helped us to listen, express and understand each other. She was one of the creators of “Northern Character” Festival.

At the period of its development she supported us and was always ready to lend her shoulder in difficult situations. We considered her opinion and set a high value to her ideas. This summer Lena Larionova passed away. We remember her smile, her optimism and that gives us sense of security and feeling that everything will be great.

In the memory of Elena Larionova organizers of the festival “Northern Character” together with the Institute of Regional Press (St-Petersburg) and Nordic Journalist Center (Denmark) present an exhibition “Neighborhood”. It presents pieces by 12 young, talented photographers from North-West Russia. All of the photographers have taken part in the Nordic Master Class in the Nordic Journalist Centre in Denmark. They demonstrate how they understand this term – “neighborhood”.

The project is financed by the Nordic Council of Ministers and is implemented in a close cooperation with the photojournalism program at the Danish School of Media and Journalism.

The exhibition will be presented on the 1st floor of the Kirov Culture Center.
