ATTACKED JOURNALIST SPEAKS BEFORE NORDIC CONFERENCE ON PRESS FREEDOM

On March 9 Swedish Radio’s correspondent Maria Persson Löfgren was robbed and assaulted as she and three collegues were attacked by 20-30 armed men in Ingushetia. Two months after she speaks up at the May 2nd press freedom conference in Helsinki.

Conference: Press freedom in a modern Nordic media landscape

The conference is organized by Nordic Journalist Centre for Nordic Council of Ministers as a pre-event prior to the UNESCO’s World Press Freedom Day celebration in Helsinki, Finland.

Maria Persson Löfgren is key note speaker at the afternoon session which is focused on the Nordic countries’ roles in supporting press freedom in the world.

The AM session will focus on press freedom and freedom of expression in the Nordic countries.
